Enrollment is the process of creating an ID number and scanning a user’s fingerprint and creating a user ID number associated with their fingerprint. Up to 10 fingers can be enrolled for the same ID number to have more options for verification. It’s a good idea to have more than one fingerprint enrolled should an injury occur.
During user verification, the stored fingerprints are compared to those stored to confirm the user’s identity. Enrollment is performed at designated units.
If you are enrolling users for the first time on an empty system, everyone will become an Enroller. If there is a manager in the system, you will have Manager Status to enroll a user.
There are three ways of enrollment: fingerprint enrollment, password enrollment, and fingerprint and password enrollment. Fingerprint only enrollment is suitable for those with good quality fingerprints. Fingerprint and Password enrollment is suited to those few who successfully enrolled, but verification was still difficult. Password only enrollment is suited to the 1% of people for which verification was unsuccessful, mainly due to poor quality fingerprints.
